On Sunday, June 23, the rain stopped, the clouds parted, and local folks turned out at First Parish in Concord to recognize the second anniversary of the Dobbs decision and stand up for abortion rights and other freedoms. It was one of 13 similar events across the Commonwealth and dozens hosted by Indivisibles around the country.
The rally featured local reproductive rights leaders — including Somerville City Councilor Kristen Strezo, Mass. Representative Simon Cataldo, Democratic State Committeewoman Mara Dolan, Mass. Young Democrats Disability Caucus Chair Leslie Templeton, and Eden Evins, Cox Family Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. CI Steering Committee member Diane Proctor served as emcee.
With personal stories, dire warnings, and historical context, the speakers made clear the stakes of the upcoming election and urged us to take action.
The green sashes worn by speakers and attendees symbolize the international color for women’s rights.
Hosted by Concord Indivisible and First Parish in Concord, the rally was co-sponsored by Indivisible Acton Area, IndivisibleLAB, Cambridge Activist Afternoons, League of Women Voters of Concord-Carlisle, and Young Democrats of Massachusetts.
