I’ve recently had the opportunity to observe our community members’ passion and dedication in various ways. With crucial elections and pressing social issues coming up in the next few months, it has become increasingly evident that every voice counts. This realization motivated an initiative that both aimed to make a difference and included the next generation of changemakers.
Like many kids her age, my 12-year-old daughter is highly aware of the world around her. She is beginning to understand how our choices today will shape her future. To channel her budding interest and enthusiasm into positive action, we collaborated with like-hearted friends and their families who share our vision for a better tomorrow and hosted a small party in our home to write postcards to potential voters in Arizona.
We can inspire change for our kids.
As we wrote, the room was filled with laughter, camaraderie, and a shared sense of purpose (and snacks, snacks always help!). We expressed our concerns and hopes on the postcards, knowing that we had the power to inspire change for these kids. Through events like this, we can both strengthen the bonds within our community and show them that small actions, like writing a postcard, can have ripple effects that extend far beyond our immediate surroundings. It’s about planting seeds of change and nurturing them together.
I am filled with optimism as I look ahead.
The passion of this younger generation gives me hope that the future has the potential to be in capable hands. By engaging them (with us now) in meaningful activities (like postcard writing, rallies, and phone/text banks), we can empower them to shape the world they want to inherit actively.
I encourage you to explore creative ways to get involved with your family and neighbors – whether through postcard campaigns, community events, or grassroots initiatives. Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a difference. Together, we can build a brighter and more inclusive tomorrow for all.
Let’s have fun and make an impact!
Want to create a space where friends, neighbors, and family members who feel overwhelmed by election-year anxiety can come together and constructively vent their frustrations? Contact folks in your community, then gather postcard packets from Concord Indivisible for your group. Whether it is five, ten, or more packets, every card counts and is meaningful. New packets are available every couple of weeks. (See our newsletter for details.)
No time to party?
Deliver the packets to folks so that they can complete them when they can. Over the past several months, Concord indivisible members have brought batches of postcard packets to the following groups:
- Members of book clubs
- Fellow residents in senior living communities
- Parents of middle-school kids
- Neighbors in a condominium complex
- Members of a faith community
